For more than 19 years, Ronny Wiskin has consistently committed to meeting his customer’s evolving needs offering tremendous value, service and experience in the fields of construction, renovation and home improvements. Ronny is the Founder & President of Reliable Independent Living Services®, a company established in 2004, which specializes in providing complete access solutions for residential and commercial environments.

ReliAble Independent Living’s guiding core values are listening to the customer and enhancing quality of life with integrity and honesty. The company’s vision is ‘to continually strengthen the social fabric by keeping families together’. Reliable's mission is to be recognized as the North American industry leader helping people live comfortably and independently in fully accessible homes and workplaces.

The spark that led Ronny to focus the company into the home modification niche came from his own grandmother. She was afraid of injuring herself while trying to climb into her bathtub. Ronny’s decision to shift the direction of the business came after the bathroom modifications were made and he saw how quickly his grandmother regained her confidence, independence and happiness. Reliable’s new focus would be to improve people’s lives in the same way his grandmother’s life changed for the better. After conducting market research, Ronny developed a niche around this market, which was being under serviced. The company has since retrofitted more than 300 homes & assessed more than 1000 properties.

Reliable Independent Living is poised for growth as demographic trends show more than 93 percent of seniors plan to remain at home as they age and prefer in-home care support. The company’s business model is proven with plans to expand their reach across Canada through franchising.

Reliable has successfully formed several strategic alliances with third party government funded and non-profit organizations. The company acts as an ongoing resource for Community Care Access Centres across Ontario and was also approved as a vendor for Veterans Affairs Canada.

Ronny’s passion for telling his company’s story has led to being a regular guest as the Home Modification Expert for the weekly radio show “From a Woman’s Perspective” on AM740 Zoomer Radio, answering listener questions. The company has also been featured twice in the Toronto Star, the Greater Toronto Area Construction Report and several community publications representing the disabled community.

Ronny, true to his values, has volunteered for most of his life towards strengthening ties and building communities. He has supported community organizations including recruiting and leading a group of volunteer's to upgrade and modernize facilities at Touchstone Youth Centre and housing for Jewish Family Childcare Services in Toronto. He also provided consulting services for a barrier-free washroom and shower facility at The Parkdale Activity & Recreation Centre. His view has always been to find ways to improve living environments that enrich and support families in staying together.

Ronny also actively volunteers as a mentor to the next generation of entrepreneurs for the Toronto Business Development Centre. He is happily engaged in a supportive relationship and is a proud father to three loving children.

Ronny's commitment to his community, his customers and his family stems from a deep desire to help people reach their full potential by becoming self-sufficient and lead satisfying fulfilling lives. He is a passionate leader and entrepreneur who continues to strive to add value with every new customer.

Will Ontario be fully Accessible by 2025?

A recent update from the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act - Alliance addresses the Province of Ontario's political views on the issue of spending provincial tax dollars towards improving accessibility in public spaces. It is clear that the government is pushing the responsibility of public accessibility to private industry and indicated that minimal tax dollars will be spent on improving access for people living with disabilities.

Hi Ronny,

Pleasure making your acquaintance! Interesting that you are involved in accessibility issues. I am a pharmacist, living in a
4-level townhome, with knees that are not getting any better! Perhaps one day I will be in need of some of your insights into managing better at home!

In the meantime, if you or other members have any medical/health/pharmaceutical concerns/questions/issues,
I would be happy to assist!

Otherwise, I am becoming a BIG fan of AM740, amazed that I can pick up the radio signal from the Upper Midwest USA (and the online streaming is a treat)!

Thanks for reaching out -- I'm looking forward to enjoying this site, and of course, all the great music here!

Happy listening,
Maureen :)
