NaPoWriMo #13 River of Love

We are drops of water in this great river of love
Like cogs in the wheel we shoulder the burden
Force the millwheel to turn
Sometimes we drop our load
You helped me pick up mine
Time to help you with yours
I tried to help you up
You carried on without a backward glance
I raised my glass in anger
I plotted
I cursed
How to help you?
How to assuage my pain?

But my pain was only fear
Fear that you denied my love
Fear that I could not do the right things for you
Fear that I could not ease your pain
Fear that you did not trust me
You had your doubts
As I tried to find my way
I know now you raged against your own fears
I know now that it was your right to make your choices
We opened up our hearts and embraced again

good-bye

I find this site is not particularly useful.

It is not user-friendly, and there are far too many advertorial content posts for me by both users and external and internal posts.
There is no one in charge of the site, who can monitor and remove spam.
I am fed up with the ads and the lude posts.
The e-mail system does not allow me to control enough of my mail.

For a private company, to be using such a (free) cheap site, it criminal. They are making money off of all of us through their Google ads.… Continue

Senior's living arrangements

Finding placements for aging parents is a big issue, with implications for adult children, their careers, and lifestyle changes.

Caregiving options and placements abound for seniors: see my full post here.

* provide extra support in the senior's home (live in care)
* move them into your home
* find a retirement home
* find a supportive living residence
* a long-term care (LTC) home

A big decision many adult children have to make is whether to… Continue

health care

We know what works in health care: prevention, early identification, efficient treatment.
We know how to prevent chronic diseases: stop smoking, eat well: a balance of food groups, exercise (FITT- flexibility, endurance, strength), relax, socialize, listen to your body.

The Canadian Institute for Health Information published a report:… Continue

Health Care Information

BP BLogger
I have found, at least I continue to follow a marvellous resource called Best Practices (BP) Blogger Newsletter. The full list or simple, succinct, 2-page resource pages can be found here: BP Blogger.

Mary-Lou van der Horst is the writer, and these publications really helped me to advocate for my father when he was in LTC. The ones I would recommend reading for family members of seniors would be: Medications and Delirium. I think… Continue

LTC in Ontario

What is appalling is that hospital and LTC spend $18 billion of our tax dollars in the MUSH sector: municipalities, universities, schools, hospitals which includes: LHINs, LTC, Health Care & Children's Aid TPAs, police, EMS.

In the case in most of the institutions that care for the young (Children's Aid Societies) and related organizations: non-profit Day Care, and other sectors run by municipalities, they have requisite knowledge, skills and expertise embedded i… Continue

Jennifer, I have Baycrest Hospital around the corner, where I do volunteer, But my main interest is helping seniors and their families on the financial planning side. Is there a need out there and you address it in your book?

I offer you my sincere apology, I just have it in for teachers stemming from my years in the Toronto Board of Education school system. Believe it or not I was teacher's pet, smartest kid in the class and the most polite. This of course did not make me very popular with a few of the bullys I had to contend with. Luckily no physical abuse was meted out but threats of violence were very distressing to the underweight weakling I was at the time.

I agree with your comments on Zoomers. It is difficult to navigate and there is far too much advertising and self promotion. Any questions to administration for help are ignored.

Once again, please accept my apology for what I intended as teasing the teacher.

Re: Goodbye,

Lude posts? Did you mean lewd posts? I hope so, if you were a school teacher.
