Hello Gail :

Wondering what shows you did in the Bracebridge area last year. We did the "Muskoka Summerfest", we use a Caravan 10X10 pop up booth. Good but still has short comings #1 setting up/teardown, #2 Weatherproof, windproof ?, only to a degree. And security, nil. So what we're looking at is a cargo trailer conversion, if anyone is interested in something like this they can check out mikenchelle.com for the forum Teardrops & Tiny Travell Trailers, a section of this site is dedicated to cargo trailer conversions. They can be elaborate or not. This at the moment is what we're considering, that way the trailer could used for other things. Might be worth taking a look.

Take Care.

Welcome Bill!!! by the sound of it...life is going well for you. At one time I also sold baskets and giftware. Most of the shows I did required my jewellery be only handmade or one of a kind, so I dropped the gifts, but I have kept the tea. I did my best at home shows, very well at times, but simply got tired of carting so much stuff around......Even though my jewellery is much more manageable...it is very competitive...I have come up with a couple of ideas that I think will prove successful...and I will let you know!!! I have done a couple of shows in the Bracebridge area and both times I was rained out....last year's rainey season hurt financially....keep in touch! your input is important...We are all looking for sucess to different degrees!!!!

Hi all just joined Zoomers :

We own a small giftware business, open to new ideas. We did four local consumer shows last year and wern't happy with the results, so we're taking this year to revamp. Anyone with advice we're willing listeners

Take Care.

Facing the Dragons – Those That Do & Those That Don’t!Posted by Frank Moffatt on March 18, 2010 at 3:00pm
Send Message View Frank Moffatt's blog
.Tomorrow I have an interview with the producers of the Dragon’s Den (Shark’s Tank in the US) in hopes of making the show next season. If I make the cut the good news is that the product my brother and I developed will receive some great exposure from the show, and whether the Dragons like it or not will likely give us a positive boost in entering the commercial market where we hope to help a selected group of people.

So what is the product – hey if I told you I’d have to kill you – so – I guess you’ll either have to wait for next seasons episode – if we make the show or if we don’t make the show you’ll just have to wait until we stick it up on our website: www.yoursecondfifty.com.

But really the point of this blog isn’t about making it onto the Dragon’s Den – it’s about understanding that there are countless opportunities out there that need to be filled. It doesn’t have to be an invention or a product – it can be a service – all it needs to do is fill a need. In our case, my brother and I were aware enough to spot an opportunity in the market place that wasn’t being met and that required a solution. So what I guess I am saying is that if we found one – you can too!

Ok I know it’s NOT THAT EASY – but everyone has a million dollar idea – EVERYONE!!!! So what is the difference between those that do and those that don’t? ACTION! Taking one step after another and continuing to move forward, overcoming our need to be perfect the first try and overcoming the fear of rejection. That’s it – YES THAT’S IT – plain and simple. If you keep moving forward what ever your idea is – IT WILL WORK!

So what do I mean by it will work – you will progress and improvement will occur. Of course if you set yourself up for failure – you will fail. So enjoy the journey one day at a time. If your product truly helps people and you continue to Live ~ Learn ~ Laugh ~ Love on your journey the synergistic energy of the universe will find you and things will fall into place.

When my sons were little and wanted to make a record. I wasn’t too keen on the idea to start and even less so when I faced all that rejection. “They are cute but they can’t sing.” “How can we market kids in country music, it’s never been done before!” “What will we do when their voices change?” Man, I heard everything, but I never gave up, because they never gave up. WHY didn’t they give up? Their egos hadn’t emerged yet and they weren’t afraid to hear the word no, they just wanted to make a record! They have made plenty now :-)

So tomorrow look around and see what it is that people need and that they don’t have and once you have that idea – build it and then rather than seek rejection just go about your business seeking to help the world and trust that what you are doing is the right thing and the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place!
