Nice to be part of this Group!
A couple of things come to mind that I'd like to share...

1. Take a dryer softener sheet like Bounce and clean the lint trap with it.
It picks up the lint in a breeze ;)
2. We don't use plastics bags so much now from the stores, but I use them for car garbage, draping one handle over the gear shift. Also, for 'doggie pick up' days /;0)

3. If you buy 500ml water bottles, save them and reuse to fill with healthy blender shakes. Easy to grab on the go or to work.

Thanks for the chance to share...Donna

Hello Everyone: I just found this group and its one of my favourite subjects. I gave up buying commercial cleaning products two years ago to help the environment and have a few recipes to share.

To kill germs, spray full-strength white distilled vinegar on doorknobs and then wipe them dry.

This is good for spring. A Dandelion Free Lawn
A natural alternative to using expensive and potentially toxic chemicals. Fill a spray bottle with undiluted White Vinegar. “When dandelions start to pop up, spray the center of each flower with the vinegar. Spray once directly on the plant and again near the ground so the vinegar can soak into the roots. This will kill the dandelions and keep them from growing back. It is best to do this on a sunny day when no rain is expected for a few days, because the rain will wash away the vinegar.

Estee....that was an excuse some women used, but as a migrain sufferer, I can tell you anyway you find to distract yourself from the pain is good!

LOL.....Bonnie, the idea of the clothes pins is just to change the pain. If your fingers suddenly start to hurt, it takes your mind off the headache for a while. Sex works too ;)

Bonnie, I used to wash my hair with dish washing detergent too, back in the 60's. My mom thought I would ruin my hair, so she brought it up one day while we were at the hair dressers. The professional told her I was probably doing something better for my hair than most people as dish detergent is actually a lot gentler than using shampoo straight out of the bottle. She said shampoo is meant to be diluted before applying to the hair. I don't know if anything has changed since then or not, but it wouldn't surprise if if shampoo had been watered down since then, in the interests of making more money.

Yes Claire rubbing a stain with a bar of white soap does wonders!

To add to the drain de-clogger recipe. All you need is about 1/2 cup of baking soda and about 3/4 cup of vinegar. Pour the baking soda down the drain first, then the vinegar. There will be a bubbling reaction between the baking soda and vinegar. That's it!

Rubbing alcohol takes out ball point pen marks on clothing. Just be careful to rub towards the middle so you don't spread it.

Not sure if this has been shared yet, but I do a lot of cleaning with baking soda. It's a natural abrasive great for cleaning things like stoves, bathroom and kitchen sinks and counters.
Baking soda and vinegar is great for a monthly cleaning of your drains to prevent plug-ups (passed on to me by my mom). P.S. Susan, loved the french fries comment..so true! LOL

I use vinegar to take the sting out of any insect bites. I also use it to clean windows and mirrors. I always have a spray bottle when cleaning. It is great for keeping stainless steel sinks and appliances clean. And it smells so much better than other cleaners. Breathing it won't hurt your lungs. May make you want some french fries though. lol
